Mount Monadnock is the most prominent peak south of the White Mountains. At 3165 feet, it dominates the landscape of southern New Hampshire, standing more than 1000 feet above any nearby hills, and more than 2000 feet above the surrounding plains. It is often considered one of the most climbed mountains in the world with over 125,000 visitors a year, and with more than 4000 acres held in conservation by the Society for the Protection of NH Forests, and others, Mount Monadnock is guaranteed to be preserved for generations to come.
